Trains are running again today on the Ontario Northland railway following a derailment last week — but crews are still busy hoisting the last of the four cars out of the White Clay River between Kenogami and Ramore.
The train cars derailed alongside Highway 11 near Swan Lake on Aug. 11. They were carrying copper-zinc concentrate from a Timmins mine, some of which leaked into the water.
An Ontario Northland spokesperson said in an email to CBC News that once the cars are removed, the company will have a better sense of the extent of the contamination.
A total of four cars ended up in the water, but only one was believed to be leaking.
