Sudbury's First Nickel is now reporting four workers were injured in an explosion at its Lockerby Mine on Sunday.

Company president and CEO Thomas Boehlert first stated one worker required medical aid, but the injury was nothing serious.

"As we do not run a shift on Sunday, we will be assessing the situation underground today," he wrote in an email to CBC News.

But Mine Mill Local 598 spokesperson Anne-Marie MacInnis reported four people were injured in the explosion.

The VP of First Nickel's Sudbury operations, Vern Baker, later stated four workers were treated for minor injuries.

"There were no major injuries, and everyone on shift was able to go home when they left the mine," he stated in an email. "Four people were assessed by our on-site medical staff, but were OK."
