Frank Reynolds gets $2K fine in Sudbury pedestrian dragging case

On appeal, a man pleaded guilty to careless driving after he backed over and dragged a woman some distance in a Walmart parking lot in 2011.

A southern Ontario man who hit and dragged a pedestrian with his vehicle in a Sudbury parking lot has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Frank Reynolds hit a woman in a Sudbury Walmart parking lot in 2011.

His conviction of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm was overturned on appeal, but yesterday, Frank Reynolds pleaded guilty to careless driving in lieu of having a second trial.

Reynolds originally testified that he didn't know he'd hit the woman as he backed out of a parking space.

However, the woman became lodged under his vehicle and was dragged some distance.

Then, Reynolds turned and hit a speed bump and the pedestrian was dislodged. But, thinking ice had built up in his wheel well, he backed over the speed bump and hit the woman again.

Reynolds has been fined $2,000 and given a year to pay for the careless driving charge.
