Sudbury Harvest Feast to showcase local, seasonal fare
Eat Local Sudbury fundraiser seeks to get people 'more engaged' in what's for dinner
Something's cooking at Eat Local Sudbury — and you're invited to dinner.
People involved with Sudbury's downtown food co-operative are planning a Harvest Feast to celebrate and showcase exclusively local and seasonal fare.
Eat Local managing director Peggy Baillie said Sudbury is warming up to the locavore food movement sweeping bigger cities, but it hasn't quite arrived.
"While there are restaurants and there are people who are trying to push the boundaries of food [in Sudbury], the uptake from the consumer isn't that great," she said.
"I think there is room to move in terms of getting more people engaged in food."
About 240 tickets will be available for the Oct. 2 Harvest Feast at College Boreal in Sudbury. In addition to an all-local muti-course meal, the evening will showcase local musicians and a local art auction.
