Sudbury opens shower facilities for residents with frozen pipes
As some residents in Greater Sudbury continue to deal with frozen water pipes, the city has opened shower facilities to those affected.
The city said residents can use the showers between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 pm. daily until Wed., March 4.
After that, the city said the need will be reassessed.
Residents who need the use the showers will be asked to present identification and supply their own towels and toiletries.
The following facilities in Sudbury are open:
- Capreol Millenium Resources Centre – 24 Meehan Street, Capreol
- Gatchell Pool – 43 Irving Street, Sudbury
- Nickel District Pool – 1940 Hawthorne Street, Sudbury
- Onaping Falls Pool – 1 Hillside Drive, Onaping
The city added it will phone every property owner on the waiting list for thawing services on a daily basis to monitor those affected without water. Those who don’t receive a call can phone 3-1-1 for assistance.
Eight crews are working around the clock to help thaw frozen pipes, the city said.
