Police investigating after missing woman found dead in Long Lake #58 First Nation
Adrienne Towegishig was reported missing on Jan. 10
Adrienne Towegishig, a 35-year-old woman from Long Lake #58 First Nation who was reported missing Jan. 10, has been found dead.
On Sunday, shortly after 5 p.m., members of the Greenstone Ontario Provincial Police received information about an individual found deceased in the First Nation.
On Thursday morning, police confirmed it was Towegishig.
"The investigation is continuing by the Greenstone OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the OPP North West Regional Support Team and OPP Forensic Identification Services, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service," the OPP said in Thursday's news release.
Towegishig's family described her as an outgoing person who was always smiling and laughing. She was the mother of eight children.
Her family had been conducting searches for her in Thunder Bay, believing she may have been in the city.
"Police would like to thank the public for information shared during the investigation," the OPP said.
