3 adults, 4 cubs surround bow hunter for hours
A hunter in the Dryden area is safe after being surrounded by a group of bears on the weekend.
Dryden OPP officers were called late Saturday night by a camp owner who said a bow hunter had left for a tree stand at 2:30 p.m. and had not returned.
When the owner went to check on the hunter, he found there were three adult bears and four cubs surrounding the stand, so the hunter couldn't get out of the tree.
When police arrived at a nearby landing, the camp owner took them to the wooded area where the bears and hunter were located.
Eventually the hunter was able to leave the tree safely.
Police say no shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
