CBC Thunder Bay's Sounds of the Season benefits food banks
The community of Thunder Bay continues to make donations of food and cash to the Regional Food Distribution Association.
Several large donations were made Friday morning during CBC Thunder Bay’s Sounds of the Season live broadcast of the radio program Superior Morning from the RFDA headquarters on Syndicate Avenue.
Five locals of Unifor, the union representing workers at several workplaces including Resolute Forest Products, Bombardier and Dilico, contributed a total of $10,000.
Union chapters that donated funds include Local 5025, Local 39, Local 257, Local 1075 and Local 7-0.
Resolute management also presented a cheque for $10,000.
The John Andrews Foundation, a private charitable organization, contributed $12,500.
Many residents of Thunder Bay have also stopped by the RFDA with donations of food or money.
The fundraiser continues until 6 p.m. at the RFDA headquarters.
CBC Thunder Bay's Voyage North has a special Sounds of the Season broadcast Friday from 4-6 p.m.
