Driver dies after car crash with horses

Provincial police are reporting the driver of the motor vehicle that crashed into two horses on Highway 17 has died as a result of her injuries.

Provincial police are reporting the driver of the motor vehicle that crashed into two horses on Highway 17 has died as a result of her injuries.

Vermilion Bay's Crystal Machendagoos, 38, suffered life-threatening injuries after a Friday night collision near Dryden.

Dryden OPP reported that, just after 8 p.m. Friday, a white Chevrolet car travelling east on Highway 17 crashed into two horses standing in the Eastbound lane.

Machendagoos was airlifted to hospital in Thunder Bay. A passenger was treated and released from the Dryden Health Centre.

One horse died at the scene and the other was expected to make a full recovery.
