Junior Canadian Rangers Camp Loon teaches life-saving skills to kids from remote communities
More than 100 First Nations teenagers are gathered at a special summer camp near Geraldton, Ontario this week.
The Junior Canadian Rangers camp runs the annual event to teach life-saving skills to youth in their program.
"The camp is not for recruiting," Captain Caryl Fletcher said in a news release. "It's basically for educational purposes for the benefit of First Nations in the North and to allow them to have fun for a short period of time during their summer vacation."
"For many of the kids here this is the only time they will get out of their communities for the whole summer," he added. "We work hard to make the camp the highlight of their summer."
