The Ministry of Transportation says most of the work scheduled on the Nipigon River bridge this weekend has wrapped up.

The MTO advised on Friday that the bridge would be closed between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday while work was being done on the damaged structure.

In a weekend update, a ministry spokesperson said the work that required closing the bridge was all completed on Saturday.

The ministry noted that shorter closures of up to 15 minutes may still occur throughout the weekend. The province is still aiming to have two lanes of the bridge reopened to traffic by the end of February.

Motorists are being reminded to obey and follow all traffic signs when crossing the bridge.
