A group made up of volunteers and staff from Shelter House and the city rolled their sleeves up during a neighbourhood cleanup Tuesday in Thunder Bay, Ont.

The team pitched in to clear the litter and debris left behind after the winter thaw.

In a statement released Tuesday, Shelter House said that "greater personal connection between neighbours helps to grow healthy and resilient communities."

Such events are a way to "give back to the Thunder Bay community," the release stated.

In their mission statement, Shelter House says they provide basic needs, dignity and comfort to people living in poverty and works to address the root causes of homelessness.
