A Dryden woman played a part in rescuing a skunk after the animal had a run-in with a pasta tin.

Lana Satterthwaite said it was early in the morning when she opened her door, expecting to see her cat. Instead, she saw a disoriented skunk with its head stuck in an empty can.

Satterthwaite called the Ministry of Natural Resources for help.

"You know some people think, skunk, eew, who wants to rescue a skunk," she said. "It's still a living, breathing animal."

Satterthwaite said she watched two ministry workers removed the can — without raising a stink. The skunk ran off to enjoy its freedom.
