Thunder Bay teens charged with assault, robbery
36-year-old man in hospital after McNaughton Street party turns violent
A city man is in critical condition and five teenagers are in custody after a violent incident in Thunder Bay’s east end Sunday night.
At about 11 p.m., police were called about a serious assault at a McNaughton Street. When they arrived, officers found an unconscious 36-year-old man on the ground in front of the house.
A Thunder Bay Police spokesperson said there was a party at the house and it appeared a fight had occurred.
"Officers entered the residence, spoke to a number of people and during the course of the evening, [and] were able to make five arrests in connection with this aggravated assault," Chris Adams said.
"It's also alleged that the perpetrators … tried to rob the victim after he was beaten."
Four of the suspects charged are youth — two males aged 15 and 16, and two females aged 14 and 16. An 18-year-old man was also arrested. All suspects have been charged with aggravated assault and robbery with violence.
The suspects knew the victim, Adams said, and alcohol appears to have been a factor in the incident.
