A high school student in Thunder Bay, Ont. says he's a lot happier since he came out as transgender
A Thunder Bay teen is sharing his story, in the hope that it will send the message to other transgender youth, that they're not alone.
The fifteen-year old came out as transgender to friends and family earlier this year.
It took him months to work up the courage to come out, he said, but he's received a lot of support, and the impact on his sense of well-being has been huge.
"I feel a lot better with myself. I feel a lot more comfortable in my own skin," he said.
"I identify as male, and I am male. It doesn't matter if I go on hormones or get surgery. I am male now, I'll be male then - that's who I am."
