Thunder Bay residents have one more day to donate their used tires to help grant a wish.

The annual Tire Take Back event, once again hosted by Thunder Bay Auto Parts, wraps up Monday June 5.

Each donated tire will be recycled by the Ontario Tire Stewardship, and generate a donation for the Sunshine Foundation, which grants wishes for children with severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses.

"This is our eighth annual Tire Take Back event," said Alexcia Amorgianos, social media manager at Thunder Bay Auto Parts. "It's great to give back to the community."

Charity barbecue

This year's Tire Take Back also included a charity barbecue for Shelter House, which took place Friday at Thunder Bay Auto Parts. Amorgianos said the barbecue raised $675.

"It was very generous of the people here at Thunder Bay Auto Parts to do this barbecue for us," said Gary Mack, executive director of Shelter House. "I've always been just blown away by the amount of support we get at Shelter House from the community."

The Tire Take Back event accepts passenger, light truck and agricultural tires. They can be dropped off Monday at Thunder Bay Auto Parts, located at 520 Squier Street.
