5 arrested in robbery investigation
Police in Peel and York regions have arrested several people who are facing a slew of charges in connection with a series of commercial robberies.
Police say on May 5 suspects entered a Rogers Wireless store in Brampton and allegedly beat a man in the store with a baton, before fleeing with cellphones and other mobile devices.
On May 11, an iPhone was stolen from a Rogers Video store in Toronto.
And on May 18, a store was robbed after a 20-year-old woman was dragged into a merchandise area by suspects who entered the store and stole phones.
Two more robberies occurred, one on May 25 in Vaughan and another on June 2 in Toronto, where employees of Rogers stores were forced to hand over cash and cellphones.
Moniz Usmani, 22, Muhammed Choudhery, 20, Naseer Ahsan, 21, and Satvir Waraich, 19, all of Mississauga, and Paramtej Mukkar, 21, of Brampton have been charged with five counts of robbery, disguise with intent and forcible confinement.
