Christine Elliott says PC leadership race is a 'clear choice'

Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership hopeful Christine Elliott has a message for anyone who thinks her rival, Patrick Brown, has all the momentum in the race: "don't believe everything you hear."

Elliott, who entered the lengthy leadership race as the favourite with large support among the Conservative caucus, will learn on Saturday whether she or Brown is the new party leader.

Throughout the campaign, Brown has attacked Elliott, the former deputy leader, for the party's collapse in the last provincial election.

Elliott has tried to distance herself from that loss and has attacked Brown throughout the campaign for being a social conservative with views outside the Ontario mainstream. She says moving the party right will cost the Tories future elections.

"I think it's a very clear choice," Elliott told CBC Radio's Metro Morning.

More than 76,000 PC party members are expected to vote in the leadership race.
