Like it or not, the holidays are officially around the corner — at least, according to the massive Christmas tree now in Nathan Phillips Square.

The annual holiday evergreen arrived in downtown Toronto at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.

The white spruce, nearly 22 metres tall, comes from the Bancroft area of Ontario.

Workers used a crane to hoist the tree upright and lower it into its base.

The next step: some serious decorating. The tree will be adorned with more than 700 ornaments and 3,810 metres of LED lights.

However, the tree won't be lit up until the Cavalcade of Lights on November 26.
