Man killed in east-end stabbing identified by police

The stabbing happened near Danforth Avenue and Hillingdon Avenue, the Toronto Police Service said in a post on X.

Toronto police have identified a man who died after he was stabbed in the city's east end late Tuesday.

In a news release on Wednesday, police said the victim was Ashkan Pournasir-Roudbane, 36, of Toronto. He is the city's 16th homicide victim of the year.

Police said the stabbing happened in the area of Danforth and Coxwell avenues. Officers were called about the incident just after 11 p.m.

According to police, a fight occurred between two males behind a plaza. A male wearing dark clothing was seen fleeing the area.

When officers arrived, officers found a man suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

The Toronto police homicide unit is investigating. 

Police have released an image of the suspect.

He is described as male, wearing a dark-coloured hooded sweater and a black face covering.
