Toronto Fire has rescued a "school-aged" child halfway down the Scarborough Bluffs.
Toronto Fire said rescue operation was 'dangerous'
Toronto Fire rescued a "school-aged" boy from halfway down the Scarborough Bluffs Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters received the call around 1:40 p.m. for a stranded child. They worked with police and paramedics to carry out a technical rescue or a "rope rescue."
Toronto Fire could not confirm the boy's age but say his father was on his way to the scene.
"It is a dangerous operation," said Capt. Michael Westwood. "It takes a lot of resources to get a person who gets stranded off the bluffs."
