Glenn Lowe's killer still at large, 4 years after shooting
Slain man's mother says his family relives the tragedy of his death 'every day'
Four years have passed since Glenn Lowe was shot dead at the back door of a Toronto home, with the shooter escaping into the night.
But Toronto police have yet to find that suspect and his surviving mother says the killing of her son has been a tragic ordeal, a loss that her family must deal with on a daily basis.
"Every day we relive it, every day," Dale Lowe told CBC News in an interview on Sunday, just over four years to the day her son was shot and killed.
Lowe said that it is something that has deeply affected the family that has been left behind.
"It’s very difficult for all of us — for his sister, my husband, myself, our extended family…he comes from a very large family on both sides, so it’s been very difficult," she said.
Police have previously revealed that Glenn Lowe was shot inside a home at 1562 Jane St., where marijuana was being grown indoors. The 30-year-old man answered the back door and was confronted by a suspect who shot him.
The shooting happened just after 11 p.m. on Feb. 7, 2010.
Police say that a woman who was inside the house with Lowe found him on the porch of the house and called 911 that night.
On Friday, police released a YouTube video, once again calling on the public to provide information about Lowe’s killing.
"At the time, investigators spoke to several witnesses that were near the scene and they were of the belief that not everybody was being truthful and honest with their answers," Det.-Sgt. Steve Ryan says in the video.
"It is my hope that those same people are in a better position today and they will come forward and give us information that will lead to the identification of the person that killed Glenn."
A $50,000 reward remains in effect for evidence that leads to the arrest and conviction of his killer.
Dale Lowe said that no matter what her son may have done, there is no justification for what happened to him.
"Glenn had problems, issues. He was a good, good man, but he would screw up. He was taking part in illegal activities that have now come to light, but no one deserves to die, especially in that manner," she said.
"And it’s just gut-wrenching to know that he was so brutally killed, gunned down and I just want whoever’s responsible put away for it."
While Lowe recognizes that nothing can bring back her son, she said an arrest would relieve the fear that accompanies the fact that his killer is still out there.
