Hundreds lined up for a chance to take some of Honest Ed’s iconic signs.

Hundreds of Honest Ed’s fans lined up outside the store on Monday, for a shot at taking home one or more of the store’s iconic sale signs.

The distinctive signs the discount store has used to sell products to customers are well known for their memorable copy and colourful designs.

Douglas Kerr is one of the people that writes the signs that hang throughout the store at the corner of Bloor and Bathurst streets.

His favourite is a sign with a bird-themed pun, telling customers that Honest Ed is "for the birds" because he is "cheap, cheap, cheap."

The signs being sold off on Monday were going for $0.50 to $100 each. The proceeds of the sale are going to Victim Services of Toronto.
