Durham Regional Police say a 30-year-old man is facing multiple new charges after he was previously charged in connection with the sexual assault and forcible confinement of a 14-year-old girl in Ajax.

Further investigations revealed the man was allegedly having a sexual relationship with another 14-year-old girl, police said in a Friday news release.

The suspect is now facing multiple charges, including sexual assault, sexual interference,  assault, invitation to sexual touching and making and possessing child pornography, according to police.

Police say they arrested the suspect at an Ajax residence on Thursday.

Officers began their investigation after receiving information from Hamilton police, Durham police said in a news release earlier this month.

The accused allegedly picked up the first victim in Hamilton and drove her to Ajax, where she was confined and assaulted "over a period of days," according to the release.

Police say the first victim and accused knew each other through a mutual connection.

Durham police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
