Police identify man, 43, killed in downtown Toronto shooting

Toronto police have identified a 43-year-old man who died in hospital after he was shot downtown on Wednesday night.

Toronto police have identified a 43-year-old man who died in hospital after he was shot downtown on Wednesday night.

Lyle Pounall, of Toronto, was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the area of Sherbourne Street and Queen Street East, police said in a news release on Thursday. Police were called to the area shortly after 8 p.m.

Paramedics rushed Pounall to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On Wednesday night, police said the shooter fled the scene and they believe no vehicle was involved. Police have not released a description of the suspect.

Pounall is the city's third homicide victim of the year.

Anyone who witnessed anything or who may have relevant video is being asked to contact police.
