York Regional Police are investigating two more instances of rocks being thrown at moving vehicles in Markham, they said in a statement on Tuesday.

Officers said a vehicle travelling eastbound near Mingay Avenue was struck by a large rock on Oct. 19 around 1 a.m. The driver told the police that it had come from a vehicle that was travelling in the opposite direction.

A half hour later, a driver called to report that someone had thrown a rock at his windshield, striking him in the face. This took place in the area of Stouffville Road and McCowan Road, police said.

They said the driver suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have already been investigating several other instances of rocks being thrown at moving vehicles in Markham, one of which led to a serious crash that left two people with life-threatening injuries.

The probe began after a two-vehicle collision on Sept. 20 when a "fist-sized" rock was hurled through the front windshield of a 61-year-old man's vehicle, the OPP had said.
