York police have arrested four men and a youth in connection to a home invasion that happened in Richmond Hill last month.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. on March 18 at a residence in the area of Arnold Avenue and Charles Street, police said in a news release Monday.

Three masked, male suspects forced their way into the home and demanded the key to an SUV parked in the garage. The victim complied, and one of the suspects made his way to the garage, reversing through a closed garage door and driving through a gate at the end of the driveway, police said.

Three adults were at the residence at the time of the home invasion, but no one was physically injured, police said. The stolen vehicle was found abandoned a short distance away from the property.

Police said that four men and a 17-year-old boy were arrested in the area of Matheson Boulveard East and Creekbank Road in Mississauga on Saturday.

A loaded firearm was also recovered during the arrest, police said.

The five accused are now facing multiple charges, including disguise with intent, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Police said that at the time of the arrest, some of the suspects were out on separate release orders or probation for unrelated offences. Three of the males were also wanted by other police agencies.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact York police or to leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
