Gas prices reached record highs across the Toronto area this weekend, hovering at around $1.42 cents per litre after jumping two cents overnight.
The price breaks a record set in 2011 and, according to some predictions, could go up by another cent on Sunday.
The news had drivers lining up on Friday, to fill up before the increase, and fuming on Saturday.
“It’s ridiculous, but you’ve got to deal with it,” one motorist told CBC News. “If you don’t have gas can’t do anything.”
One reason for the rise, according to some analysts, is the renewed wave of violence sweeping through Iraq. The turmoil has sent fear through investors, causing a spike in the price of crude.
