Muzik cameras working on night of deadly shooting, club says

Muzik nightclub is equipped with security cameras and cameras were working on the night a pair of shootings left two people dead as an event at the club wrapped up, the club confirmed Thursday.

"We can confirm Muzik has cameras, and they were operating," according to the club. "We are fully cooperating with the police investigations. It is up to the police to determine what footage from those cameras is useful to them, and what, if anything, will be made public."

Two people died in a pair of shootings just after 3 a.m. on Aug. 4. Duvel Hibbert, 23, was shot dead on the patio of the club at Exhibition Place and Ariela Navarro-Fenoy, 26, died after she was shot a few minutes later just north of the club as the crowd spilled out onto Dufferin Street. 

An OVO Fest after-party at the club was wrapping up when shots rang out. 

Although an estimated 4,000 people were there, police have said only a tiny fraction have come forward to share information with police. Police are looking for two suspects but have not made an arrest in the case. A shooting at the same event last year sent a man to hospital.

The shooting has raised questions about security at the Muzik. The shooting happened despite the presence of 70 security guards at the club, about 10 paid-duty officers outside and a number of on-duty police officers.
