London, Ont. woman, 24, killed in shooting outside Mississauga bar

A 24-year-old London, Ont. woman was killed in a shooting outside a Mississauga bar early Monday, Peel police say.

A 24-year-old London, Ont. woman was killed in a shooting outside a Mississauga bar early Monday, Peel police say.

Police were called to the area of Drew Road and Torbram Road at 2:48 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Const. Sarah Patten, spokesperson for Peel Regional Police. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have not released her name.

Patten said on Monday that police believe there were witnesses to the shooting and investigators are appealing for them to come forward.

"I am unaware of how busy it was. There were multiple patrons outside this establishment," she told CBC Toronto.

"As to exactly what transpired, we are unaware at this time. It's still very early in the investigation."

A large crime scene that includes two plazas and a section of Torbram Road continues to be taped off as officers investigate.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. They are now canvassing the area for security camera video, Patten said.

Peel police's forensic identification unit is also at the scene.

Patten said they have no suspect information yet.

Earlier, canine units and tactical teams searched the area for a suspect.
