Durham police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to stab someone out for a walk Sunday night in Oshawa. The attempted stabbing comes just days after an elderly woman was stabbed to death in a unprovoked attack in Pickering, leaving some residents concerned for their safety. CBC's Dale Manucdoc has the story.

Police in Durham Region are looking for a man they say pulled out a knife and tried to stab someone in Oshawa over the weekend.

On Sunday around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Durham Regional Police responded to a call about an assault near Steeplechase Street and Windfields Farm Drive E., according to a police release Monday.

Police say the suspect was seen walking west on Danzatore Path, when he approached two people walking in the opposite direction.

As they passed each other, the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and tried to stab one of them, according to police. Nobody was injured, and the suspect fled the area.

Durham police describe the suspect as a five-foot-eight-inch to five-foot-10-inch man, approximately 20 years of age, wearing a black wide-brimmed, safari-style hat, a black Jansport jacket, a grey hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses.

Police have released an image of the suspect and are asking witnesses and anyone with video footage of the incident to contact them or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers
