Rob Ford soaked in ice water for ALS ice bucket challenge
Doug Ford and former Maple Leaf Tie Domi help dump ice on the mayor
A video posted today shows Mayor Rob Ford accepting the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge with help from his brother and former Toronto Maple Leaf Tie Domi.
Domi took the challenge on Friday and asked the mayor to do the same.
"I have been called out by legendary Maple Leaf Tie Domi for the ice bucket challenge for ALS,” Ford says in the video. “Tie, I accept your challenge, let’s bring it on.”
The video on YouTube then shows Coun. Doug Ford and Domi dumping a garbage bin full of ice water on the mayor’s head.
The challenge aims to raise awareness and money for ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
Participants who are challenged are told to donate $100 to an ALS association or dump ice water over their head. After they have been challenged they are given 24 hours to make their decision. Many high profile nominees are doing both.
If they accept the challenge they can then nominate three other people. The mayor chose Jimmy Kimmel, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
