An early morning stabbing sent one man to hospital on Sunday. 

Police said this morning they were investigating a shooting near St. Clair Avenue East and Birchmount Road after a report of gunfire at about 5 a.m.

They found a man suffering superficial stab wounds and took another person into custody. 

The victim was taken to hospital and has since been released, according to police at 41 Division. 

Police say they also found a shell casing, and are continuing to investigate the possibility of a shooting.
