Toronto police identify man fatally stabbed in Scarborough home

Toronto police have identified a man after he was fatally stabbed in a Scarborough home on Wednesday night.

Toronto police have identified a man fatally stabbed in a Scarborough home on Wednesday night.

Kulathungham Mathisoody, 66, of Toronto, died in his home in the area of Finch Avenue E. and McCowan Road, police said in a news release on Friday. Officers had been called to the residence for a report of a stabbing shortly after 11 p.m.

When police arrived, they found Mathisoody with injuries. Emergency personnel tried to save his life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His son, 32, has been charged with first degree murder, police said in the release. He was due in court on Thursday for a bail hearing.

Mathisoody is the city's 78th homicide victim of the year. No photo of the victim was released.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
