Teen in fatal Mount Pleasant crash granted bail

The 19-year-old man accused with impaired and dangerous driving causing the death of a 24-year-old passenger on Mount Pleasant Avenue was granted bail Thursday.

The 19-year-old man accused with impaired and dangerous driving causing the death of a 24-year-old passenger on Mount Pleasant Avenue was granted bail Thursday.

Oliver Karafa was driving the Range Rover that slammed into a lamp post on Mount Pleasant Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.   Karafa's parents arrived in Canada from Slovakia on Thursday to attend the bail hearing.

Police allege Karafa was drunk and speeding. He suffered minor injuries, but his passenger, fitness trainer David Chiang, was killed almost instantly.
