Mayor John Tory wants Toronto to keep showing its Blue Jays pride by wearing blue and white on Tuesday, which he has proclaimed "Blue Jays Appreciation Day."

"I hope that what we are going to do tomorrow will send a message to [the Blue Jays] especially, just saying how much we love them and just how much we appreciate everything they did," Tory said at a press conference on Monday.

Tory also invited Torontonians to show their Jays pride on social media by sharing some of their favourite memories from this season.

"This season, especially in the last half and the playoff run, made the city cheer and made the city believe and brought the city together as one city, which is so important to me," Tory said.

Tory also said he will make good on his promise to send craft beer to Kansas City Mayor Sly James if the Jays lost the American League Championship Series.

Tory also announced the City of Toronto will be giving Blue Jays President and CEO Paul Beeston the key to the city later this year.

Beeston was one the Blue Jays' first employee back in 1976.

"He's held every major role in this organization and of course an instrumental part of the team back-to-back World Series, and in re-building themselves to become a contender once again this year," said Tory.

Beeston is retiring this year.
