Woodstock man, 19, charged in fatal Brampton crash, Peel police say

A 19-year-old Woodstock, Ont. man has been charged in a Brampton crash that killed one man and left two other people injured in November, according to Peel Regional Police.

A Woodstock, Ont., man has been charged in a Brampton crash that killed one man and left two other people injured in November, Peel Regional Police say.

The 19-year-old was arrested on Tuesday and charged with dangerous operation causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, police said in a news release on Thursday. He has been released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in a Brampton courtroom at a later date.

Police said the crash happened in the area of Steeles and Finch avenues on Nov. 24, 2024. Officers were called to the scene at about 12:30 a.m.

A Mississauga man was pronounced dead shortly after the crash, police said. A Mississauga woman and another Woodstock man suffered serious injuries, they added.

On the day of the crash, police said the collision injured five people in all, but the number of injured was revised in the latest release.

Police say the accused was leaving a street racing event when the crash took place.

"Dangerous driving has tragic consequences for our community," Peel Deputy Chief Marc Andrews in Thursday's news release.

"Those who put our community in harms way will be arrested and charged. Accountability and meaningful repercussions are vital to addressing and deterring dangerous drivers."

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dashboard camera footage of the incident, is being asked to call investigators with Peel police's major collision bureau.
