Casino patrons excited to return to Caesars after strike
It's finally time to redeem those cashout vouchers
She's been waiting to redeem a cashout voucher she won in early April.
After two months, Elizabeth Rapp is finally able to cash it in at Caesars Windsor.
The casino reopened to the public Thursday — three days after the end of the 60-day strike. Doors officially opened at 11 a.m., but a main entrance security guard reported a "soft opening" 30 minutes prior.
Ready to play again
Rapp, who lives in Detroit, Mich., visited Caesars Windsor "often" before its closure on April 6. She has been waiting more than two months to cash in a voucher she had won just days prior to the strike.
"I've been checking up on the news waiting for them to open back up."
Rapp and two of her friends arrived at Caesars at 12 p.m. — just one hour after the doors officially reopened.
"It means we're excited to go spend our money at Caesars and we're excited to hopefully win some money. But if it doesn't happen, I'm just excited to be here."
She is one of many fans of Blink-182 who were disappointed when the band's Caesars Windsor concert was postponed. But Rapp remains optimistic, saying she is excited to see the band at a later date.
"I'm pretty bummed out about waiting three months, but I'm excited that they rescheduled the show. It's something to look forward to."
Wayne Buse of Windsor is volunteering at the Windsor Comic-Con. That event will be held at Caesars in late September.
Buse said he is an occasional visitor to the casino — his dad heads to Caesars more frequently.
"The strike is finally over. Now, people like my dad can come in and have some fun."
