Chrysler Pacifica, priced from $45,740 to $54,740 CAN

Barring discounts and employee pricing, drivers won't be able to get themselves into a new Chrysler Pacifica for anything less than $45,740 when the vehicle hits dealer showrooms later this spring.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced Tuesday the gas-powered 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan will offer about 12 km/litre for highway driving and 9 km/litre for city and highway driving combined.  

A number of Ontario dealers tell CBC the Pacifica will be sold in three trim levels:

• The Pacifica Touring-L at $45,740
• The Pacifica Touring-L Plus at $48,740
• The Pacifica Limited at $54,740

While dealers have told CBC the suggested manufacturer's retail price, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Canada spokeswoman Lou Ann Gosselin would only say in an email that "we have not officially announced Pacifica pricing at this time."

By comparison, the Chrysler Town and Country Touring minivan currently has an MSRP of $45,195 but is available now for $34,695, after discounts, according to Fiat Chrysler Canada's website.

Former Chrysler Corp. chairman Lee Iacocca drove the company's first minivan off the assembly line in Windsor, Ont., in 1983.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles unveiled the Pacifica at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. It was designed to replace the Chrysler Town and Country and the Dodge Grand Caravan.

However, Timothy Kuniskis, FCA's head of passenger vehicles, previously said the company will keep making the current — and cheaper — model of the Grand Caravan for as long as there is demand.
