Experience the incredible heat of Chongqing at U-Noodles
Jonathan Pinto pays a visit to U-Noodles, a restaurant serving food from the Chinese city of Chongqing
U-Noodles is a new restaurant on Wyandotte Street West, a few blocks away from the University of Windsor. It opened two months ago.
While most Chinese restaurants in Windsor serve dishes from all over China, U-Noodles specializes in food from Chongqing, a major Chinese city known for its fiery dishes.
Owner Yang "Yoyo" Zhou is from a part of Chongqing called Xiushan. At U-Noodles, Yoyo serves up Chongqing classics, as well as dishes you can only find in Xiushan.
As you might expect from the name, noodles are the main focus. Depending on the dish, Yoyo uses noodles made from wheat, rice or sweet potato.
I have a pretty high threshold for spice, so I ordered the hot and spicy noodles, a simple dish topped with peanuts, sesame seeds, green onions and cilantro.
Take a look at that deep red broth. It's as spicy at it looks — maybe even more so.
