Windsor resident dies of injuries after fire in Walkerville

Windsor fire officials said the resident was rescued and taken to hospital in Hamilton in critical condition. The man succumbed to his injuries Wednesday night.

Investigators say the fire was accidental, caused by careless smoking in the living room.

A man has died of his injuries following a fire in Walkerville on Wednesday.

Windsor fire officials said the resident was rescued and taken to hospital in Hamilton in critical condition. The man succumbed to his injuries Wednesday night.

Investigators said the fire, in the 900 block of Moy Avenue, was accidental, caused by careless smoking in the living room.

Roughly $150,000 in damage was caused due to the blaze.

A second person was treated for smoke inhalation and released from hospital.

The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office is also investigating.
