Man dies after falling through roof of GoodLife Fitness

A 53-year-old man who fell through the roof of a GoodLife Fitness gym in Windsor, Ont., has died, according to the Ministry of Labour, which is investigating the incident.

A Rauth Roofing employee fell through an opening in the flat roof and landed on the floor below at the Dougall Avenue facility on July 15.

Emergency services were contacted and the worker was transported to hospital. 

The Ontario Ministry of Labour then issued five work orders.

The ministry ordered Rauth Roofing to:

• Install a floor cover.
• Install a section of guardrails.
• Secure the top and bottom of an access ladder.
• Install bump lines.
• Select a health and safety representative for the project. 

The Ministry of Labour has returned to the project to continue the investigation.
