2nd degree murder charge laid in woman's death in Leamington

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say a man is facing a murder charge after a woman was found dead in Leamington, Ont., on Thursday evening.

Officers responded to a 911 call on Mill Street Eeast at about 5:40 p.m. and located a woman's body, the OPP said in a media release on Friday.

Police said that a 38-year-old Leamington man has been charged with second degree murder in the woman's death.

Her name isn't being released pending notification of next of kin, police said.

"The OPP want to assure the public that there is no concern for public safety, but there will be an increased police presence in the area during this investigation.," the OPP said.

The OPP is asking anyone with information to contact the Leamington detachment or Crime Stoppers.
