Pink safe holding Nazi memorabilia, old Bible found empty

A pink safe that was stolen from a Sarnia home holding a 300-year-old family Bible, Nazi war memorabilia and silver bars in early December has been found empty by police.
Sarnia police officers searched a home in on Baxter Street Wednesday just before 11 p.m. where they found the safe and other stolen items taken during another unrelated break and enter.
When the safe was stolen on Dec. 8, owner Craig Demarais said it weighed hundreds of kilograms.
Demarais told CBC's Afternoon Drive it contained $1,000 in cash saved for Christmas, a collection of paper currency, a gold pocket watch, silver coins, silver bars and an 1871 Dutch coin displayed on a chain.
The safe also contained a 300-year-old family Bible and Nazi war memorabilia collected by his uncle while fighting in the Second World War.
Police said everything is still missing.
Officers also found a bicycle valued at almost $10,000 in the home which was taken in a separate break-in on Dec. 7 on Hillary Street.
A small amount of crystal methamphetamine was also found in the home.
Police have charged a 46-year-old Sarnia man, who is currently out of jail on bail. He is facing several charges including possession of stolen property over $5000 and possession of a controlled substance.
