Man in critical condition after near-drowning in Lake Huron at Sarnia beach, police say

A 29-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital after city police say he nearly drowned in Lake Huron at Canatara Beach in Sarnia.

Swimmer, 29, remains in the intensive care unit of Bluewater Health

Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley said he values Canatara Beach's benefit for mental health. But just like other regional mayors, he is asking for the public to respect the government's rules for social distancing.

A 29-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital after city police say he nearly drowned in Lake Huron at Canatara Beach in Sarnia.

Police say emergency crews responded to a 911 call around 6:10 p.m. on Sunday about a "possible drowning."

When they arrived on scene the man was immediately pulled from the water, according to authorities.

"CPR was commenced and the male was transported to Bluewater Health where he remains in intensive care in critical condition," police said in a Monday social media post.

Police say they're not releasing the person's identity.
