Three beaches in Essex County have been labelled unsafe for swimming.

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit came to that conclusion after samples were taken on Monday.

The beach warning applies to Mettawas Beach in Kingsville, Point Pelee North West Beach and Seacliff Beach in Leamington.

Those beaches have not been closed.

The public is being cautioned that the water may pose a risk to your health. That's because of high levels of E. coli bacteria that were found.

The region's six other beaches are open.

The health unit conducts beach water quality monitoring at nine public beaches in the area, at least once a week from June until September to make sure E. coli counts are below provincial standards.
