Windsor's community orchestra played its final concert Sunday.

The group has stopped operating now that it has exhausted its savings.

Robert Kiborn has been associated with the orchestra for 27 years. He is a musician who is also on the orchestra's board.

"The thing that's most upsetting about it is that the students at the University of Windsor are not going to have an orchestra to play in once we're gone. It's been a great learning place for them, as well as for community members," he said.

Kiborn says unless someone steps forward to offer financial support over the summer, the orchestra will not start up again in September.

The 45-member orchestra is comprised of about 30 students and 15 community players and is the de facto orchestra of the University of Windsor's School of Creative Arts.

Kiborn says the only way the orchestra could be salvaged is for an "angel" to give them a donation of $12,000 a year.
