After watching the federal leaders debate last week, voters in Windsor-Essex will have a chance to hear local candidates square off during a series of debates Tuesday.

The event is hosted by the Windsor Essex Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the Windsor-Essex County Association of Realtors (WECAR).

Doors open at 10:30 a.m. at the Serbian Centre on Tecumseh Road East.

The debate schedule is as follows:

11:05 a.m. - Essex candidates.
11:40 a.m. - lunch.
12:10 p.m. - Windsor West candidates.
1:15 p.m. - Windsor—Tecumseh—Lakeshore candidates.

The organizers invited candidates from the Conservative, Liberal, NDP, Green and People's parties, but not all will be participating, chamber Policy Analyst Connor Lalonde told CBC.

The Essex debate will feature Liberal Chris Sutton, NDP candidate Lori Wightman and People's Party candidate Jason Henry, he said.

The Windsor West debate will feature NDP incumbent Brian Masse, Conservative Harb Gill, Liberal Richard Pollock, People's Party candidate Jacob Bezaire and Green Party candidate Louay Ahmad.

The Windsor—Tecumseh—Lakeshore debate will include Liberal incumbent Irek Kusmierczyk, the NDP's Alex Ilijoski and Green party candidate Roxanne Tellier, Lalonde said.

The event will be broadcast live by Cogeco YourTV, according to a news release from the chamber.
