City of Windsor inside workers ratify new contract
Workers reached a tentative agreement on June 10

City of Windsor inside workers have ratified a new contract, their union announced Monday.
CUPE Local 543.1 workers ratified the contract in a vote on Friday by just over 88 per cent, the union said.
The agreement includes a wage increase of nearly 13 per cent over four years, as well as a move for a large number of full-time staff to a 35-hour working week, instead of 33.75 hours — a change the union says aligns hours "with fair and modern workplace standards."
"Without our members, the gains made in this agreement wouldn't have been possible," said Patrick Murchison, president of the local.
"We extend our deepest thanks to all members who stood in solidarity, and to the city councillors who participated in the democratic ratification process."
The union and the city first reached a tentative agreement on June 10. The agreement was also approved by city councillors.
The City of Windsor said in a statement Monday evening the outcome "reflects a collaborative and productive bargaining process between both parties."
