Windsor Islamic Council condemns Nice attacks
The Windsor Islamic Council condemns the Bastille Day attacks in France, saying the people who commit such violent acts in the name of Islam are completely misguided.
In a statement issued Friday, officials with the Islamic council said the "gruesome nature of the attack in Nice demonstrates the troubling immoral and evil nature of terrorism and the sickening mentality of its perpetrators."
The statement goes on to read how the Windsor council "condemns this and all terrorist attacks in the strongest terms possible, and calls on all Muslims to stand firm against and expose these evil doers."
Reports emerged Friday indicating 84 people had died when a large truck plowed through the celebration for Bastille Day fireworks. Those dead include residents from Canada and the U.S.
The Islamic council had harsh words for anyone attacking countries in the name of Islam, saying they "are criminals who follow a sickening perverted ideology that is the farthest from the noble teaching of Islam."
